A Spa Retreat

When I moved into my current home, I was more than a little disappointed with the master bathroom. This small restroom resembled a dark cave more than it did a spa retreat. After nearly 10 years of saving money, my husband and I are almost ready to get the master bathroom of our dreams. We are planning to hire a remodelling contractor. This professional will give us the more spacious bathroom we need. We will be replacing our bathtub and shower combination with a separate walk-in shower and a soaker tub. We are also replacing our one sink with two sinks. On this blog, you will learn how a remodeling contractor can give you a spa retreat in your master bathroom. Enjoy!

Tips For Making Sure Your Home Is Ready To Endure Extreme Weather

As a homeowner, you want to make sure that you are doing everything in your power to keep your home in good condition at all times. One of the main factors to consider when doing so is to make sure that no matter what season it is, your home is ready to endure extreme weather. In order to make sure that your home makes it through all of the extreme weather your area has to offer, get to know a few of the ways that you can make sure your home is ready for whatever nature throws your way.

Waterproof Your Basement

Waterproofing your basement is one of the most important steps that you can take to get your home ready to endure any extreme weather, no matter what season of the year it is. From rain to snow, if your basement is not waterproofed, your home will be susceptible to flooding and water damage.

One of the easiest ways to improve your basement waterproofing is to paint your basement walls with a sealant that keeps out moisture and water. This is an easy and inexpensive option that can help lock out water from seeping into your home.

However, a much more effective option to waterproof your basement is to install a basement sump pump. This is a system that preemptively pumps water out of and away from your home that might otherwise flood your basement. Depending on the size of your home and basement, you may need multiple sump pumps to keep everything dry and best waterproof your home.

Keep Your Roof In Good Shape

The basement is not the only area of your home that needs to be maintained to prevent flooding and ensure your home is ready for extreme weather. Your roof is also important. A damaged roof with missing or broken shingles can cause leaking in the attic, among more serious problems.

To keep your roof in good shape, you will need to do internal and external inspections of your roofing structure. Inside your home, you will want to get up in your attic once a month or so and take a look around. Make sure you do so during the day when the sun is out so that you can look for any areas where light is shining through gaps or holes. These will need to be filled as soon as possible to prevent leaking and water damage. Look for water pooling or stains that would indicate water damage from a leak as well.

Outside of your home, you will need to regularly (monthly or every few months) climb up on your roof to look for damage. Shingles that are warped, cracked, or missing will need to be replaced to ensure that your roof can endure the next big storm that rolls through.

With these tips in mind, you can be sure that you do everything you can to keep your home in great shape and ready to endure extreme weather. For more information, contact a professional service such as Libero Building Services.
